Daikin to tie-up with Gree for RAC Production
'Daikin Industries will tie up with Gree Electrical Appliances Inc. of Zhuhai (Guangdong Prov.), China's largest household air conditioner (AC) manufacturer. Daikin intends to entrust Gree with production of about 500.000 small AC's to be shipped to Japan.
Daikin will also begin examining the feasibility of joint development of low-price and energy-saving models. Daikin, the world's No.2 manufacturer of AC's, including those for industrial use, in value terms, wishes to improve profitability and accelerate the offensive in the world market by taking advantage of Gree's price-competitive technology.'

'Daikin will commission Gree for the production of RAC's for 10 - 13 m² rooms to be sold in 2009. Each of these models is equipped with an inverter which can realize energy savings by adjusting the outdoor unit's capacity according to the operational conditions of the indoor units. Gree will assemble RAC's inverters and compressors supplied by Daikin, together with other part/components it procures.'
